Introduction
Self is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.
Personal Data
- Anonymous Account: We create an anonymous user account using Supabase authentication. No email, phone number, or personal identifiers are required.
- User-Generated Content: Identities, daily actions, action completions, journal entries, and reflections you create within the app.
- Usage Data: Information about how you use the app, stored locally on your device.
Automatically Collected Data
- Device Information: We do not collect device-specific information.
- Analytics: Currently, we do not use analytics services.
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the app functionality
- Sync your data across devices (if you reinstall the app)
- Enable cloud backup of your personal data
- Process subscription payments (via Apple’s App Store)
Data Storage and Security
- Cloud Storage: Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a hosted PostgreSQL database with encryption in transit and at rest.
- Local Storage: Data is also stored locally on your device using SwiftData.
- Anonymous Authentication: You are identified only by a randomly generated UUID. We cannot link your data to your real identity.
Data Sharing
We do NOT:
- Sell your personal data
- Share your data with third parties for advertising
- Use your data for marketing purposes
We MAY share data with:
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: View all data associated with your account
- Export: Download your data in JSON format (Pro feature)
- Delete: Remove all your data from our servers by resetting your cloud session in the app settings
- Opt-Out: Stop using the app at any time
Data Retention
- Your data is retained as long as you use the app
- If you reset your cloud session, all data is permanently deleted from our servers
- Local data remains on your device until you delete the app
Children’s Privacy
Self is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Subscriptions
- Subscriptions are processed through Apple’s App Store
- We do not store your payment information
- Subscription management follows Apple’s standard practices

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date.
