Terms of Service for Self

Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Self (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

Description of Service

Self is a personal development iOS application that helps you:

• Create and manage multiple identities
• Track daily actions and habits
• Keep a personal journal
• Reflect on your progress

User Accounts

• The App uses anonymous authentication - no email or personal information required
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device
• One account is created per app installation
• Resetting your cloud session will permanently delete all your data

Subscription Terms

Free Tier

• Access to core features
• One identity
• Up to 10 journal entries and reflections (combined)
• Basic action tracking

Pro Subscription

• Unlimited identities
• Unlimited journal entries and reflections
• Export your data
• Future Pro features

Payment and Billing

• Subscriptions are billed through Apple’s App Store
• Pricing:
  • Monthly: $4.99/month
  • Yearly: $39.99/year (save 33%)
• Payment charged to your Apple ID account
• Auto-renewal unless cancelled 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Manage subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings

Refunds

• Refund requests are handled by Apple according to their policies
• Contact Apple Support for refund inquiries
• We do not have access to process refunds directly

Cancellation

• Cancel anytime through your Apple ID subscription settings
• Access to Pro features continues until the end of the current billing period
• No partial refunds for unused time

User Content

Your Ownership

• You retain all rights to the content you create in the App
• Your identities, journal entries, reflections, and actions belong to you

Our License

• You grant us a limited license to store and sync your content via our servers (Supabase)
• This license is solely for providing the App’s functionality
• We do not use your content for any other purpose

Content Guidelines

• Use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes only
• Do not create content that is illegal, harmful, or violates others’ rights
• Do not attempt to abuse or exploit the App’s features

Data and Privacy

• Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy
• We use Supabase for cloud storage
• Data is synced automatically when online
• You can export your data (Pro feature) or delete it entirely

Intellectual Property

• The App, including its design, code, and features, is owned by us
• You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer the App
• “Self” name and branding are our property

Prohibited Uses

You may not:

• Use the App for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the App’s functionality
• Use the App to transmit viruses or malicious code
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
• Scrape or collect data from the App

Disclaimers

No Warranty

• The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind
• We do not guarantee the App will be error-free or uninterrupted
• Use at your own risk

Not Professional Advice

• The App is for personal development purposes only
• It is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice
• Consult qualified professionals for mental health concerns

Data Loss

• While we implement backups and sync, we cannot guarantee against data loss
• You are responsible for exporting and backing up important data

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the last 12 months
• We are not responsible for data loss, device issues, or Apple App Store problems

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent activity
• Abuse the App’s features

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use constitutes acceptance of modified Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal/UE, without regard to conflict of law principles.
